Hey friends, I’m going to be participating in the George Eastman House Photo Finish 5k fundraising race on October 6th. My Motion Picture Department team in particular is trying to raise enough donations to fund the restoration and preservation of an original 1917 movie poster for the film “The Silent Witness”.
The restoration will cost roughly $800, which is peanuts. I’m hoping to blow that number out of the water with your help, so that the additional money can go to fund other motion picture preservation projects I’m working on. As a point of reference, the typical cost for preservation of a 60-minute silent film is $25,000, so I’m sure that between the people who follow me here, we can get well over $800 in no time, right…?
Also, to sweeten the deal a bit, I’ll dig into my own pockets to send a piece of GEH swag (etched pint glass or mug) to anyone who donates $50 (or more). And maybe something for the $25-50 givers too, but I haven’t worked that out yet.
To learn more about the event and to donate to my team, please go here. I thank you so much in advance for your support of this project!
Done and done.
Check out my friend Tony’s super cool fundraiser dealie, won’t you? Thank you!
